The 4th March event at the Town Hall will let you see and use a Raspberry Pi computer in a number of fun and interesting ways, with a wide range of demonstrations, as well as hands-on workshops that let you build and test a range of electronic assemblies using the Digital Making Electronics Kit as shown on the right.

The workshops, aimed at both adults and under-18’s, provide 24 timed ‘slots’, each lasting 90 minutes, with start times from 10:15am through to 2:00pm. Please note that these workshops are only suitable for young people that are at least 7 years old, and if under 11 they should be accompanied by an adult.

Each supervised 90 minute ‘slot’ allows an individual, or a group of 2 or 3, in the first 45 minutes, to build an electronic assembly from individual components inserted into a breadboard as illustrated on the left.

Electronics Kit Prj01 Build05 Several different constructs of increasing complexity are possible, which demonstrate the use of buttons, buzzers and LEDs. The completed assembly in then taken over to a separate area and connected to one of four Raspberry Pi test machines (as shown on the right), where the second 45 minutes of the workshop time slot is spent experimenting with the different software methods (Scratch and Python coding) to control and operate the assembly.

The table below shows how the different available ‘slots’ are phased through the day to allow 4 ‘builds’ to be carried out at the same time and how four sets of software experimentation can also be carried out at the same time - allowing 24 bookable time slots to be available for the day.

If you would like to request one or more slots that are currently ‘open’ in the table below, please email us by clicking here - and let us know which time slot(s) you would like, how many individuals will ‘use’ the slot, and what name the booking request should be made under.

We will then reply back to the email address that you have used, to confirm if your requested ‘slot’ has been made into a firm booking and which ‘stream’ you have been assigned to. Please note that if on the day you do not turn up at the allotted time, we reserve the right to assign the slot to someone else.
